Let yourself become aware of your uniqueness. Make decisions that ‘feel’
right, experiment and push your boundaries, make mistakes and embrace
them. This is a workshop for breaking the rules and learning more
about yourself.
The first two days are spent explore new ideas and
photographic techniques and the last day is spent making an ‘art
print’ and ‘art book’.
Above
all enjoy yourself and your photography.
This all
starts with a good understanding of what photography is, how your
camera operates, and pre-visualizing what you want to photograph. Tuition

The
Critique process ... This is a very important part of the learning process, we learn ‘what
works’ and what doesn’t work and then try to solve some of the
problems with post editing.
These days Photoshop and other kinds of
software programs contribute and important part, to fully realizing
images. Ultimately we aim to develop your visual aesthetics.
This workshop differs from the others in that ‘art photography’
really has no rules. So the critique session become more of a
discussion session.
What
you should bring: Five landscape photographs for the first gentle critique session on the
Friday afternoon, prints or digital files. Clothing for cold / wet
weather as well as sunny weather including a hat, waterproof walking
boots. Insect repellent. Umbrella or rain coat for your camera, small
hand cloth to dry down gear.
Your camera gear, sturdy tripod, camera charger, spare memory cards, or if your shooting Raw files a transportable hard drive to download to.
Use our Canon 500D SLR cameras; if you don’t have a digital DSLR. We
burn your files @ $20 per DVD.
We also have a few tripods that we can loan out @ $20, light tripods
are of almost no use.

workshop contact us and we will give you our recommendations or bring
one for you to purchase.

Each workshop is unique in that the group
has it’s own dynamics. The workshops are about enjoying
photography, and enjoying the company of other like-minded people and
we encourage you to be open and relaxed.

Saturday ... Understanding
the creative use of aperture and shutter speed, focus. We go though
the new features found in today’s modern DSLR cameras. Your
photographic equipment should not get in the way of your creative
process, understanding what it can do is an essential part of
freeing your creativity.
Composition
lecture, and discussion on what makes an image strong. What is art
Photography??? Ideas…
We
look over and discuss many examples of other photographer’s work.
Though
a brain storming session come up with an idea for a series of
images. Using a visual diary, write down your thoughts and an
outline of what you want to achieve.

Dinner
followed by presentation by Mike and Jackie talking about their
personal work.
Sunday

Revision and discussion on ‘works in progress’.
All
day excursion to the Paradise valley, further exploring ideas and
techniques. Lunch at Glenorchy.

back in Queenstown, to download and discuss
7.00pm
Dinner- a night out in Queenstown-pay as you go.
Monday
Photoshop
tutoring, editing and fine tuning your images to increase the
communication of your photographs.
Practical-
Make a artist book and art print on Jackie’s Epson 7900 or her
Canon Pro9500 Mk II
