The basic workshop covers all areas
from landscape to portraiture, students are then encouraged to specialise in a
workshop that suits them most. The workshop also touches on digital workflow,
understanding the difference between raw and jpeg files and simple Photoshop editing procedures.

Friday
3-5pm Over a glass of wine and a platter of nibbles we
introduction you to the course. This is an opportunity to let us know what you
want to learn, and fine tune the schedule for the weekend. Bring along five
digital files for us the critique. They can be your favourite shots or maybe
images you are not sure of. These critique sessions are the best way to
learn.
Saturday
9am-10.30 Understand your camera, learn how the
manual controls work
Exposure/shutter speed/aperture/ISO
Focus
Understanding jpeg Vs Raw format
Practical exercise: Make 12 images on your camera.
Specific photographic problems will be set-up for you to photograph.
10.30am down load and critique
Composition lecture that helps you to know what a good image is which in turn helps you to
edit your images.
Morning tea.
11.30am -4.00pm With packed lunch we head off in our 4 Wheel drives for the Paradise valley and
practice what we have learnt. Remember:
What is the photograph about?
Is the centre of attention the most powerful element in the photograph?
Have you simplified the image and eliminated as many distractions as you can?
Does your exposure and focus express what your image is about?
4.30 pm Download/critique, organizing your files, adding meta data, how to
edit your work.
7pm-8pm BBQ Dinner.
Sunday
9.00am. Portraiture in the
landscape- Queenstown Gardens.
10.30 Back to QCCP for
critique from the Paradise valley shoot and gardens
11.30 Portraiture using interior lighting and available, fill in flash.
12.30 Lunch
1.30-3pm excursion –landscape/travel photography
3.00pm- 5.00pm last critique and slide show of images from the weekend
5.00 farewell.
Throughout the workshop you will be
encouraged to take risks, to be inspired and energized, to be more open and
expressive in your photography. We aim to help you improve your personal vision as well as discover new ways of seeing and making photographs.
We consider the process of making images to be more important than in some cases than the
product. You should leave this course knowing yourself a little better; great
photography comes from the heart, passion and commitment.
This all
starts with a good understanding of what photography is, how your camera
operates, and pre-visualizing what you want to photograph. To confirm your
