Hi Jackie and Mike I really came away with a buzz, wanting to go further with my photography and create great images. I'm sure it was an equally inspiring experience for all of the course. Hope to see you again sometime soon! Best regards Grant - Wellington. Hi Jackie and Mike Mike and Jackie Hopefully I didn't come across the wrong way. It was great to meet and learn with fellow photographers in a superb environment ... I have to admit my brain was left in neutral at times, forgetting to reset things like ASA rating, film simulation modes etc. A much more considered approach is what is needed at times. Check, check, check then make the image. The use of the graduated neutral density filter is also something Hi Jackie and Mike Dear Jackie and Mike Funny thing was on the flight back to Christchurch yesterday I found myself looking at photos in a magazine and thinking mmmm small depth of field, wonder what shutter speed... ha ha... ;-) Your course was fun informative and really opened my eyes to a lot thing things - thank you so much, I just hope I can do your tuition justice and take many wonderful photos, and yes I have been practicing - not to mention rambling on to anyone that will listen about how much fun I had. Thanks again, hopefully will see you both something when I am tripping around in Queenstown, and I am definitely keen to come back sometime and do another of your courses. Kind Regards Gaylene Mike I wish you a very merry Xmas and a wonderful new year. I hope that I will put all that I have learned to good use in Egypt during January and February 2008. Kindest Regards and Merry Christmas! Therese Clarke Hi Jackie and Mike Feedback from the Art Photography Workshop ... These are all the things that I think are missing for me so maybe this could be what I need, but, when it comes to photography, I looked at myself as a mechanic not an Artist and certainly not creative. I felt that I would be out of my depth, but my wife told me that I should just get out my comfort zone and give it a go and I am glad I did. This workshop was one of the best I have been on for a long time. There was a lot to be covered in the schedule that you set but there was no pressure and the pace felt relaxed which put me into a good frame of mind to settle down and learn, and I have learnt a lot over the weekend, not just about photography, but also about myself and what I want out photography and life in general. As a team you guys are terrific. You appeared so calm and in control as you guided us through the various tasks of the day. I have been told that you only retain a third of what you are taught in a workshop but I have learn volumes, about photography and myself. The information you prepared for us to take away, the Golden Rules & Photographers Quotes have proved to be helpful, after the workshop, as points of reference. Some of the quotes have turned on lights for me already and I often return to the photographer’s quotes. I believe the structure of this workshop is perfectly balanced, but then I think you two would find it difficult to do anything badly. It is all about ideas and turning on the mind to create them. In its current form I could attend the same workshop several times and still get something different every time. It was difficult returning to the drudgery of The Warehouse, I have been given a glimpse of Paradise, a photographic lifestyle I would like to live where the Warehouse does not feature. Unfortunately I still need to pay the bills so progress may be slow. But I have two projects that I am going to produce an Artist Statement for. One is my unusual trees and the other is Nature taking back its own. I also like the seashore and am looking for some inspiration in that area. Lots of reading to do, and photography books to look at. But in two years I hope to have my first book. Once again thank you for a wonderful workshop. Hope to see you at the Iris Awards - Cheers Brian. Hi Jackie and Mike, Belated big thank you to you & Mike for improving my vision. I thoroughly enjoyed spending the weekend with you both & freely sharing your wealth of knowledge, vision & inspiration in photography. I always enjoy reading your articles in D photo magazine and checking out the shots to see if I can find Mike running through them, does he charge you a fee? Seriously, I enjoy them & giving the tasks ago. I was looking out for you both in the background the other week when they showed the hoar frosts in Queenstown, hoping to see you both snapping away artistically - what a playground!!!!!! Once again a big thank you to you both, keep the vision going. Regards, Mike. Dear Mike and Jackie, I had an 8-hour shoot yesterday with my full-time model Jess. We had a ball, the shoot was very relaxed (born of mutual respect and total trust), the light was constantly changing from bright sun to overcast, and with rain showers, very windy to dead calm, and a couple of great locations along the Avon River and on top of a hill with wonderful lichen covered rocks. The point is that I only made 53 images all day!! Spent a lot of time shifting the tripod, muttering to myself about unnecessary stuff in the frame, passing Jess her bloody great dressing gown so she didn't turn blue while waiting for me to 'get it right', and trying not to fall in the river. All this of course is a direct result of my time spent with you. And I had to apologize to Jess at least once when I told her I needed to change my lens! I look forward to receiving the 'book in due course. Again, thanks guys for a great learning experience and I look forward to working with you both again in the not too distant future. Warm regards, Doug Perth Hello Jackie and Mike
