Queenstown Centre for CREATIVE PHOTOGRAPHY

Our 5 hour 4WD Photographic Safari is about taking your camera off automatic and taking control. We hope to change the snapper into a photographer. Learn how to control aperture and shutter speed. Understand composition and take away knowledge that will prove invaluable.

This travel experience offers a unique opportunity to get off the beaten track as well as experience the highlights of the best scenery in the Queenstown area.

The Safari is a five-hour, four wheel drive photographic learning experience. These safaris are run on demand with a minimum of two people and a maximum of four per vehicle/tutor. This makes for highly individualized learning environment.

The Safari will help photographers / travelers, learn new ways of seeing and become more aware of their 'inner artist' while experiencing unique and awe inspiring scenery.

The day is spent photographing in a destination suited to the weather conditions, allowing everyone time and circumstance to express their own vision, and at the same time receive constructive and appropriate critiques of their images via digital 35mm Canon cameras supplied for this purpose.

At the end of the safari, each photographer/traveler should have attained a new and more acute visual perception with which to express themselves. Each photographer / traveler will have a CD of their images burnt to disc.

Jackie / Mike will give a demonstration on the use of their digital cameras, and answer any questions you may have concerning your own equipment. Before you start photographing, you will be given a short introduction to the skills of composition, and learn the basics behind how cameras work, and how to use them in a creative way. Then we hit the road, the destination will be decided from information gained from the questionnaire, and the prevailing weather and road conditions.

Summer (1st October - 31st March):
Safari begins at 1pm, you will be picked up from your Hotel in Queenstown and dropped back at 6pm.

Winter (1st April - 31st September):
Safari begins at mid-day, and continues till 5pm.

Includes:
Use of Canon 35mm, SLR 350D, Canon 400DSLR digital cameras. Five hour tour in a modern four wheel drive vehicle. Afternoon tea, with muffin. Expert photographic tuition by either Mike Langford or Jackie Ranken. CD of images from the day, and access to current Canon digital cameras to make these photographs.

What to bring: Your camera, film, spare camera batteries, or use ours.
Appropriate clothing to suit season, long sleeves and pants all year round ... further information.
